Ironchest's Heirs

Ironchest’s Heirs, that is what the rebels call themselves self complacently who deny Grimbeard’s right to the thrown and are longing to restore the old king to the throne. Their number is said to be about twenty or more trolls but nothing is known exactly. Furthermore it’s not known where they are – outside of the troll-kingdom but that’s about all that’s for sure.
It seems they live a nomad life and never stay for long in one part of the tunnel labyrinth but move on and on to avoid the risk to be found by accident. Their targets are simple: To overthrow Grimbeard and take over the kingdom themselves. They hate the current king almost as deeply as their other enemy: the elves. To get the pointy-ears back in their service is the second part of their plan.
The legend says that Ironchest himself pulls the strings and leads the rebels. But to the outside a few smaller group leaders keep things moving, above all Hammerhard as their head. The chances are that the real one pulling the strings is Ironhand, Ironchest’s great-granddaughter and at least she thinks she is the only true heir.
In their appearance the rebels offer an unusual view that will make the attentive viewer at last stop short. Because they live such an unsteady life they are not able to run gardens or breed fishes and they have to feed on the things they can get. That leads to the fact that the most of them have a skin that tends more towards the grey than the green. Adding to that, their clothes often are torn and well-worn. Furthermore they are heavily armed and they look as if they are all but ready to use these weapons.
Till now neither the trolls nor the elves (even less the elves) know about them. Only in the troll lair there are some rumours but the trolls are told to keep these rumours from the elves and Steelfist himself takes care that nothing of that will ever reach a pointy-ear.

Important personalities of the rebels:
Ironchest
• Ironhand
• Hammerhard

Ironchest

Sex: male
Family: There are many under the rebels that claim to be related to Ironchest but the only one that comes close to that seems to be Ironhand who is supposed to be his great-granddaughter
Appearance: He had been very tall and rather muscular than fat unlike the current king. His skin tends more towards grey than green and his head is bald. Some braids are braided into his very thick dark grey beard and his dark, tiny eyes were crusted and sticky.
He wore a dark-red king’s coat lined with mice and rat fur.
The thick fingers and the overgrown ears were decorated over and over with rings out of all imaginable gems and metals. On his head he is said to have worn a surreal crown out of white hollow bones. This crown should have been more valuable than anything that Grimbeart is hoarding in his chambers, but it vanished with the old king.
Position: Former King
Personality: Ironchest had the reputation to be very cruel (if necessary or fitting for the moment). He was obsessed with power and greedy in general. He is said to have hoarded uncountable treasures in a secret camber which hasn’t been found by Grimbeart yet. He was feared as much by the trolls as by the elves. He was a big, awe-inspiring troll who wasn’t known for his tolerance – quite the difference. Despite everything Ironchest was a very intelligent man who knew how to use everything and anyone for his personal advance.
History: Ironchest had been king of the trolls for uncounted centuries before the arrival of the elves. Only the old Wartnose seems to know how it had been without him as the king. When his fellows brought him that frail and unliveable pointy-ears he offered them shelter and help, but only a few noticed the diabolic grin on his lips. He managed to enslave them and to burden all the unloved labour on their shoulders which he never had to do himself. The revolution of the elves irritated him very much – thankless bunch!
After that he lost more and more of his power and influence until a coup finally overthrew him and he was chased away. It’s rumoured that he is still alive but no troll had ever seem him since that.

Ironhand

Sex: female
Family: it’s rumoured that she’s the great-granddaughter of Ironchest but that is what many say about themselves. Lovemated to Hammerhart
Appearance: For a troll maiden she’s very tall and strong, the female curves seem to have vanished under the trained muscles though you can see without a doubt that she’s a maiden. She has short-cut brown-black hair which is a little bit frizzy and curly. Her nose is remarkable straight but very big. Her eyes seem very cold and icy blue. Her skin is almost gray, not really green anymore. She doesn’t wear jewellery, only a gray-blue headscarf that she has bound around her head. She wears a blue-gray doublet and firm black snake-leather boots with steel caps and arm bracers out of the same leather.
On her back she always wears a big pick that crosses a huge axe.
Position: Rebel
Personality: Ironhand is a troll maiden you don’t meet often. She lives up to her name. Her grip is unrelenting just like her whole personality. Less talking - more action and lay a hand on things herself is her device. She can keep up with every male in her group and even has intelligence not to be underestimated, if only her fanaticism wouldn’t get her in the way. She’s very dominant and loud.
History: Ironhand once had been a troll maiden like any other, a simple maid and kitchen worker. But then all the sudden her attitude changed. According to the gossip she shall be a direct descendant of the old Ironchest. One waking time she came along and declared that she had met her great-grandfather in the tunnels and would share his bloodlust from now on. Of course no one really believed her. Only a small bunch which had gathered themselves to overthrow Grimbeart took her in and listened to her. Only a few believe that she really is in contact to the old king though and talk behind her back that she only says it to strengthen her place in the group that truly belongs to Hammerhard. In secret it is more like Ironhand is the real leader.

Hammerhard

Sex: male
Family: lovemate to Ironhand
Appearance: He’s tall even if he would have trouble to size up to the high of the biggest guards of the king. His skin could have been called brownish once but tends more towards gray now. His hair that once had been light brown with a little tint into the red meanwhile is gray-white. He wears it short cut so it stands off his head. On the sides he shaved off two bold lines – sometimes he expands the lines to a tribal on his head. His eyes are small and have a very unusual light colour for a troll that plays into blue-gray.
Most of the time he wears a grey jerkin, reinforced with snake leather on the chest and the shoulders, together with simple grey pants and thick snake leather boots. At his lower arms he wears metal wrist guards. Just like his lovemate he prefers a huge axe as a weapon but contrary to her he wears it on his broad belt, together with a dagger the length of his lower arm. His only jewellery is an ear ring in his left ear.
Position: Head of the rebels
Personality: Hammerhard is a rather intelligent troll; however, due to his fanaticism his intelligence fails from time to time. He knows how to lead his group and how to avoid cruelty when it would be adverse; when the opportunity arises he enjoys it nevertheless. Otherwise he is straightforward, stubborn and sometimes rather braggy. His only weakness is Ironhand – even though he avoids quite well to say or show this to others he is completely in the troll woman’s pocket and isn’t able to stand up to her.
History: Hammerhard has hated the elves who fled from the trolls and always held the opinion that the peace with them was nothing but weakness. For him there are only two ways to deal with the elves: enslaving or exterminating. He hated Grimbeard just as much – after all, the peace was his fault. For a long time he fostered this fanaticism only within himself until the dissatisfied voices became louder and he found followers sharing his goals. As one of the more intelligent trolls he quickly became one of the group leaders – even if it i soften whispered that it was mainly to Ironhand’s credit. He is one of the few who believes Ironhand that Ironchest really is still alive and would sacrifice his life to restore him to the throne.
